The amount of screen time youngsters receive on a daily basis has steadily increased over thepast few years, particularly during the duration of the pandemic. Certain individuals believeTV is harmful for children while others consider it is beneficial for their growth. The pros andcons of allowing youngsters to watch TV every day will be explored.
One the one hand, watching TV every day can harm children’s eyesight and lead to a host ofphysical issues including affecting their backs, wrists, necks and psychological development.Youngsters may not be able to distinguish between reality and the virtual world, not tomention they may even imitate the violence and inappropriate behaviour that occur ontelevision, which may get them into serious trouble. Moreover, watching TV every day mightcreate an addiction to screens, which may reduce face-to-face interaction and stunt the growthof natural communication skills.
On the other hand, as the saying goes, moderation in all things, which means it is best not todo too much or too little of something. If children can watch a limited amount of TV everyday, it would not be as harmful to their health or development. As youngsters watch high-quality educational programs, they can learn and pick up information they would have neverhad access to through other forms of media. In addition, young people can be entertained andkept busy when watching television while their parents or caregivers can focus on otherendeavours.
Overall, from my point of view, many children nowadays overindulge in television, whichbrings about harmful physical and psychological effects. Nevertheless, if parents can limitscreen time for their kids and allow them to view educational content, watching TV can be agreat addition to their lives.
